Óbidos & Mafra tour is a private sightseeing tour where you will travel through time. Visit the Óbidos medieval village, the National Palace of Mafra and the fishing village of Ericeira.
At the beginning of the day your local guide / driver (English speaking) will pick you up at your hotel in Lisbon and will take you to a full day private tour of Óbidos, Ericeira and Mafra.
Start discovering this wonderful historical area by visiting the medieval Óbidos village. Óbidos is a magnificent village with white houses surrounded by very well preserved walls. A walk through Óbidos is a travel through time where you can glimpse the medieval times in Portugal. Don’t forget to enjoy the sweetness of Óbidos local liqueur, the famous Ginginha!
Continue your tour with a visit to the village of Ericeira, a seaside resort / fishing community on the western coast of Portugal where you can taste fresh seafood from the region. A walk in Ericeira is also a walk through time as it was from the Praia dos Pescadores (fisherman beach) that the last king of Portugal went into exile after the outbreak of 5 October 1910 revolution. Ericeira is also regarded by some as being Europe's Surf Meca, due to the exceptional coastline conditions for the practice of surf. It is home for Ericeira's World Surfing Reserve, the 2nd in the World and the 1st in Europe.
Before heading to your hotel you still have time to visit the impressive National Palace of Mafra, the biggest palace in Portugal. The Mafra National Palace was built in the 18th century by our megalomaniac king D. João V. Besides its function as a palace, it was also a monastery and houses an enormous basilica. Do you believe that the palace has a front of 220 meters, more than 600 rooms and 5200 doors and windows? I am sure you will after visiting the Mafra National Palace!
No meals or entrance fees are included. In the middle of the day tour we stop in a typical Portuguese restaurant where you can taste the best of the Portuguese gastronomy.
